Silk fabric weights (momme): Our duvet covers, fitted sheets, flat sheets and cushion covers are crafted from 22 momme Grade 6A silk. Our silk pillowcases are crafted from 25 momme Grade 6A silk, with sizes shown in the table below. All our silk is finished with our contemporary matte finish, loved by both men and women alike.

Both Classic and Oxford silk pillowcases use a discreet envelope closure, without a zip. Their 25 momme weight refers to the silk fabric, not the thickness of the pillow insert. Choose your pillowcase by measuring the pillow itself rather than relying solely on your mattress size.

Choosing the right silk pillowcase is simple, whether your pillows are sized in centimetres or inches. Our two pillowcase sizes are designed to accommodate both familiar UK dimensions and their slightly larger US equivalents.

UK Standard / US Queen – 50 × 75 cm (approximately 20 × 30 in)

Our UK Standard silk pillowcase fits both 50 × 75 cm pillows and standard US Queen pillows measuring 20 × 30 inches (approximately 51 × 76 cm). Both sizes fit beautifully, so there's no need to worry about the small difference between metric and imperial measurements. This is our everyday pillowcase size, suited to most UK single, double and king beds.

UK Super King / US King – 50 × 90 cm (approximately 20 × 36 in)

Our UK Super King silk pillowcase accommodates both 50 × 90 cm pillows and US King pillows measuring 20 × 36 inches (approximately 51 × 91 cm). Again, both pillow insert sizes work equally well with the same pillowcase. This longer format is ideal for UK super king and emperor beds.

In short: You can choose by the size printed on your pillow, whether that's 50 × 75 cm or 20 × 30 in, 50 × 90 cm or 20 × 36 in. The matching Mayfairsilk pillowcase is designed to suit either measurement.

Cushion cover and Euro sham size chart

For a beautifully plump cushion, we generally recommend an insert that is slightly larger than the silk cover. The best fit depends on the filling: soft, compressible inserts can be up to 5 cm larger in width and height, while firmer, densely filled inserts may need a closer fit.

Choosing the right cushion filling

Silk has a naturally smooth surface, so the quality of the insert makes a visible difference. For a soft, luxurious finish, our preference is for premium down or a well-made silk-filled insert. Fine kapok is another natural, plant-based option where available. Choose an insert with evenly distributed filling and enough loft to reach the corners without stretching the seams.

We generally avoid coarse, feather-heavy inserts beneath silk: quills and uneven filling can create little bumps that become more noticeable in close-up photography. If a particularly smooth, structured silhouette is the priority, a high-quality microfibre insert can also work well, although it is a synthetic alternative.

Styling tip: Start with an insert around 3 cm larger in each overall dimension, then go up to 5 cm larger for a softer, more compressible filling and a fuller look. For our 65 × 65 cm Euro sham, for example, a 68 × 68 cm or 70 × 70 cm insert can create a beautifully plump finish. Our Euro shams and decorative cushion covers currently feature a concealed zip closure for a neat, tailored appearance.

Silk care

Your Mayfairsilk® bed sheets will provide many years of enjoyment when you follow these simple care instructions. Due to its natural properties, you will find it requires less frequent washing than cotton bed linen:

Machine-wash in tepid water (< 30ºC / 86ºF) on delicate cycle.
Or, hand-wash in tepid water (< 30ºC / 86ºF).
Use 'delicate' pH neutral liquid detergent without enzymes.
Do not use bleach, whiteners or fabric softeners.
Do not wring or tumble dry.
Place bed sheet between two cotton towels and press gently. Most of the water will transfer into the towels. Remove, reshape and hang/line dry in the shade.
Use handheld steamer to relax creases if required (using silk attachment), or
Iron on low heat inside out whilst still slightly damp to relax creases.
You can dry clean if required (no trichloroethylene).

Traditionally, silk was made in a low momme fabric which meant it was hand-wash or dry clean only. However, Mayfairsilk bed linen is crafted from high momme silk fabric using a special weave so there is more silk per inch. This makes it not only machine washable, but also provides longer durability, smoother hand-feel and deeper lustre.

So that's it. Mayfairsilk is surprisingly easy to care for. Keep heat low, pH neutral detergent without enzymes, line dry in the shade. Silk is long lasting (with high momme), all natural, hypoallergenic and sustainably produced. It's truly nature's gift.

Orders placed before 1pm Monday–Friday are normally dispatched the same day, excluding bank holidays.

International orders may be dispatched the next working day during busy periods, as parcels require additional preparation before courier collection.

All delivery estimates are measured from the dispatch date, rather than the order date.

Standard UK mainland: Free tracked DPD delivery on orders of £50 or more; £3.95 below £50. Expected delivery: the next working day after dispatch.
Scottish Highlands and Islands: Free delivery on orders of £90 or more; £12.95 below £90. Estimated delivery: 2–4 working days.
Northern Ireland: Free delivery on orders of £100 or more; £12.95 below £100. Estimated delivery: 2–3 working days.

Silk pillowcases: Enjoy our 30-night sleep guarantee. Try your pillowcase at home for up to 30 nights; if it isn’t right for you, return it for a refund of the pillowcase purchase price.
Other full-price products: Return within 30 days of delivery, unused, unwashed, unmarked and uncreased, with original packaging in unmarked, resalable condition.
Return postage: You arrange and pay for non-faulty returns to our UK warehouse. If your item is faulty, damaged or incorrect, contact us so we can arrange a solution at no cost to you.

Momme (pronounced ‘mom-ee’) measures the weight of silk fabric. A higher number means more silk by weight in the same area of fabric. It is one part of the picture, alongside the fibre grade, weave and finishing.

This fabric is 22 momme, Grade 6A Mulberry silk: a fluid drape, a smooth hand feel and our signature soft matte sheen. Our pillowcases use a separate 25 momme silk fabric.
