PILLOWCASE SIZE CHART

Selecting the appropriate pillowcase size is essential to ensure a good fit, for both comfort and aesthetics.

Our pillowcase size chart makes it simple to choose the right fit for your pillows, ensuring a good night's sleep and a well-coordinated bedroom. We offer two different pillowcase sizes to fit most standard and super king-sized pillows.

UK Standard Silk Pillowcase 'Queen' (50 x 75 cm | 20 x 30 in):
This is the most prevalent size in the UK and is suitable for single, double, and king-sized beds. In the USA and Australia, this size is referred to as a 'Queen' pillowcase.

When two standard 75cm long pillowcases are placed side-by-side, they cover the width of a UK king-sized bed (1.5m).

UK Super King Silk Pillowcase 'King' (50 x 90 cm | 20 x 36 in):
This size is commonly used on Super King and Emperor-sized beds in the UK. It is suitable for both Super King and Emperor-sized beds. In the USA and Australia, this size is referred to as a 'King' pillowcase.

When two Super King 90cm long pillowcases are placed side-by-side, they cover the width of a UK Super King bed (1.8m).

Silk care

Your Mayfairsilk® bed sheets will provide many years of enjoyment when you follow these simple care instructions. Due to its natural properties, you will find it requires less frequent washing than cotton bed linen:

Machine-wash in tepid water (< 30ºC / 86ºF) on delicate cycle.
Or, hand-wash in tepid water (< 30ºC / 86ºF).
Use 'delicate' pH neutral liquid detergent without enzymes.
Do not use bleach, whiteners or fabric softeners.
Do not wring or tumble dry.
Place bed sheet between two cotton towels and press gently. Most of the water will transfer into the towels. Remove, reshape and hang/line dry in the shade.
Use handheld steamer to relax creases if required (using silk attachment), or
Iron on low heat inside out whilst still slightly damp to relax creases.
You can dry clean if required (no trichloroethylene).

Traditionally, silk was made in a low momme fabric which meant it was hand-wash or dry clean only. However, MayfairSilk bed linen is crafted from high momme silk fabric using a special weave so there is more silk per inch. This makes it not only machine washable, but also provides longer durability, smoother hand-feel and deeper lustre.

So that's it. MayfairSilk is surprisingly easy to care for. Keep heat low, pH neutral detergent without enzymes, line dry in the shade. Silk is long lasting (with high momme), all natural, hypoallergenic and sustainably produced. It's truly nature's gift.

The Mayfairsilk difference

Momme (pronounced ‘mom-ee’) measures the weight of silk fabric. A higher number means more silk by weight in the same area of fabric. It is one part of the picture, alongside the fibre grade, weave and finishing.

This fabric is 22 momme, Grade 6A Mulberry silk: a fluid drape, a smooth hand feel and our signature soft matte sheen. Our pillowcases use a separate 25 momme silk fabric.
